Cinta bukanlah apa
yang kamu lihat tapi apa yang kau rasakan

New York University to study drama. When she was just 17 she
gained early admission and lived in an NYU dorm on 11th street. While
in attendance she studied music and refined her songwriting skills. Gaga
felt she was more creative than her classmates. During her sophmore
year she dropped out to persue her musical career. Her father agreed to
pay her rent for one year, providing she would re-enroll in school if
she was unsuccessful.
Lady Gaga settled down in a small apartment on Rivington Street
during the summer of 2005. She recorded a couple of songs with hip-hop
singer Grandmaster Melle Mel that accompanied a children's book The Portal in the Park.
She also started the Stefani Germanotta Band with friends from NYU. The
band would play in Lower East Side bars and began gaining a small fan
base. They caught the attention of producer Joe Vulpis and began
recording in his studio beneath a New Jersey liquor store. The band soon
became a fixture in the Lower East Side club scene.
- The band then played at the 2006 Songwriters Hall of Fame New Songwriters Showcase at The Cutting Room and caught the attention of Wendy Starland, who appeared as a talent scout for music producer Rob Fusari. Rob was looking for a female lead for a band and contacted Gaga. By this time the band had grown apart and she was working with Vulpis alone. The two began working on electro-beat pop songs and sent them to music industry execs. Joshua Sarubin, the head of A&R at Def Jam Recordings, responded positively and vied for the record company to take a chance on her. After having his boss Antonio "L.A." Reid in agreement, Gaga was signed to Def Jam in September 2006 with the intention of having an album ready in nine months. She was dropped from the label after three months. Gaga was devastated and returned home to her family. Gaga began Go-Go dancing at bars and experimenting with drugs. It was during this time that she met performance artist Lady Starlight, who helped Gaga refine her on-stage persona. The two began performing together at many downtown nightclubs and called themselves "Lady Gaga and the Starlight Revue". The two were invited to play at Lollapalooza in 2007. Their performance was critically accalimed and received positive reviews.
Fusari continued to work on the songs they had written together and
sent them to his record executive friend Vincent Herbert. He quickly
signed her to Streamline Records and Gaga credited him with discovering
her. She also landed a publishing deal with music publishing deal with
Sony/ATV. She was hired to write songs for Britney Spears, New Kids on
the Block, Fergie and The Pussycat Dolls. While writing for the label,
Akon recognized her vocal abilities and convinced the label to do a
joint venture by also signing her to his label Kon Live Distribution.
She was introduced to RedOne and the first song she produced was "Boys
Boys Boys".
- In 2008 she relocated to Los Angeles to finish work on her album The Fame. Gaga mashed up different genres on her tracks. The album received positive reviews and reached number one in the United Kingdom, Canada, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Ireland and in the top five in the United States. The lead single "Just Dance" topped the charts in six countries. "Poker Face", the second single, was an even greater success and reached number one in virtually all major music markets. She won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronica Album. She embarked on The Fame Ball Tour in March 2009 and ended September of that year.
- Her next release, The Fame Monster was written over the course of 2008-09 and comprised of eight tracks. These songs dealth with the darker side of fame, each from personal experience. "Bad Romance" topped the charts in eight countries and reached the top two in the United States. She became the first artist in digital history to have three songs pass the four million mark in digital sales. "Bad Romance" won a Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Short Form Music Video. "Telephone" became Gaga's fourth number one single in the UK.
Gaga's second studio album, and third major release Born this Way
was released in May of 2011. Two of the singles, "The Edge of Glory"
and "Judas" were both released before the album and the latter received
some criticism for its references to Judas, Jesus Christ and Mary
Magdalene. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 in the
US and in 10 other countries. Gaga paired with Elton John for a song
called "Hello, Hello" for the film Gnomio and Juliet. Gaga's vocals only
appear in the film, and not the soundtrack
